What is CrossFit

CrossFit is a core and strength conditioning program. The structure of CrossFit is designed to optimize physical competence in each ten recognized fitness domains which include the following: Cardiovascular and Respiratory Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy. This is achieved through constantly varied functional movements performed at high intensity! Here at CrossFit Haywood every workout will be guided and instructed by a Certified CrossFit Trainer. The workouts are designed to be challenging to the most elite athlete with the scalability to meet the needs of those just beginning CrossFit. “Your needs and the Olympic athlete’s differ by degree not kind.” -Greg Glassman, Founder of CrossFit.

Our Box (CrossFit term for gym) is equipped with Kettlebells, Barbells, Bumper Plates, Pullup Racks, Tires, Sleds, Plyo Boxes, Gymnastic Rings and other equipment used for intense functional movements .

What is Fitness?

Fitness in 100 words:

  • Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.
  • Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, clean and jerk, and snatch.
  • Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, paralettes, flips, splits, and holds.
  • Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow.
  • Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense.
  • Regularly learn and play new sports.
